Caged Bulbs, Bare Bulbs, And Burns

I see that many cabinet enclosures have bare bulbs within reach of the inhabitant. I wonder about this, particularly with monitors who may be athletic or inquisitive. What are the suggestions about bare bulbs? Is it safer without a dome-type lamp they could climb into? Does wire around it protect the animal or just give them something to dangerously grab onto? Do they ever snap glass or get burned poking at lights?

Hi, I personally prefer loose hanging bulbs without anything around them, cages especially are an invite to the monitor to climb on and get burned. I use several bulbs in a row, the box helps to stop him from getting a grip or damaging them.

Excellent example. Thank you for sharing the wood you use to discourage them being grabbed at.

Are you asking which type of wood? If yes, it`s softwood ("pine") sealed with several coats of water based varnish.
