    All of the yellow rats I have seen were longitudinally striped! Is this a different type or do they develop the striping later?

    That was my question as well, and made me wonder if it really was a Yellow Rat. I did some online research and found out that the blotches separate and become stripes, unlike the Black Rats who blotches merely fade.

    Very cool, I've seen a few yellow rats for sale but never a younger one, always adults.

    I was going to get another Black Rat, but you take your chances with them. You could end up with a solid black, shiny adult beauty OR an adult who refuses to let go of their juvi pattern so that their skin is dull and washed out.

    With the yellow, you stand a better chance of getting a good looking adult. But they could still turn out ugly LOL!
